Today's Confession: I am created in God's own image.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Gen 1:27
Even though I prefer not too, Last night I decided to go ahead and go out on my walk in the dark. I was not two minutes into the walk and happen to look down on the sidewalk and saw that I was about to take a step on to a little snake. I stopped to look at it and I said..."Where is your Momma little one?" He just scooted off into the grass. I thought...it sure isn't that little cute thing that would startle me...it would be his mother! I would not want to see her day or night! That encounter reminded me why I don't like to walk in the dark...there are just too many critters around and you don't really see them coming.
Well, that can be a lot like our walks with the Lord. It is the little stuff that doesn't worry us too much because we are pretty sure we can handle them but the BIG stuff....well, that can be scary. And when does it seem to be the scariest? Well, at night of course. Many times at night there can be lots of stress and sadness. The enemy loves the darkness and hates the light because Jesus is the light. Now we as believers love the light and need to live in God's light day and night. We need to be extra careful that we do not take the devil's stories with us late at night.
You know something I got to thinking about late last night was about the story of David and Goliath. When David arrived to see his brothers, everyone around was so afraid of Goliath and the Philistines but not David. Why? Because he had been off in the fields tending to the sheep so he wasn't getting blasted with the news and people talking his ear off about how bad it was all the time. It was like a light just went on for me about how it is no wonder that David was full of faith. He had been out in the fields just spending time with the Lord and seeing the Lord give him the strength to kill a bear and a lion. WOW right?
Well, that works for all of us when we spend our time with the Lord and tune out the turmoil of the airwaves, we are much better off. We think more like God thinks and then we act more like God acts. We have to saturate our minds with thoughts that are in line with the Lord and then that naturally happens for us. Then we all know when we talk like the Lord, things will look a whole lot different. Remember when I told you that Gloria Copeland said "don't watch TV without talking back to it with the Word of God!" We can do that on a daily basis. We really do need to be reminded of how good God is and how bad the devil is. Too many times people get those facts confused and that truly makes the devil oh so happy.
Do you know God created us to fellowship with Him. He wants to spend time with each of us. My Mom is from Oklahoma and one of the things that I remember so clearly about Oklahoma is that people sit and visit. I have such fond memories of when I was growing up there and we would go to visit my Grandma ...we would sit and visit. Everyone just gathered in her family room and talked. Even as a child, that was fun. Oh is just excites me to write about this memory. There was not ever an agenda for this get together. There wasn't even dessert or snacks or drinks. We all just sat and sat and sat and talked. Well, folks, that is what God desires from us, Just to come and sit and talk to Him and visit. I think that is what He did with Adam and Eve ....when He came down to the Garden...they just visited. That is why our nature is to sit and talk and communicate with others as well....IT IS GOD'S NATURE!
So today take time to sit and visit with the Lord. He has things to share with you.

When I Need to Resist Temptation and Live God's Way by Stormie Omartian
Lord, I pray that I will never do anything foolish that would get me off the path You have for me. Help me to resist temptation to do something that is not right in Your eyes. If I have blamed You for things that have happened, I confess that as sin and ask You to forgive me. Give me the ability to make good choices in everything I do. Take away all foolishness in my heart and give me Your wisdom to guide me in every decision. The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against the Lord.
