Sensible Solution

The night Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemene, right before He was arrested, He was feeling the weight of what He was about to do so heavily that He began to sweat drops of blood. This is probably where the "weight of the world" saying originated, a feeling we have become all too familiar with during our own turbulent times.

In a pattern of prayer that is very similar to most of ours, the general theme of Jesus was saying that the task was too heavy for Him and He was asking the Father, if it was possible, to lift the cup of suffering from Him. He then added something we need to adopt for a Better Life when He said, "Nevertheless, not my will, but yours be done."

But with no response from the Father, Jesus understood that He was to follow through with the torturous yet gloriously Divine plan. His solution was to surrender to the will of the Father.

In reading the story, it appears that after His surrender to the Father, He finds peace and a sense of resignation to His task and its results. It very well could have been the time when some sense of joy over the gift He was about to give to all mankind began to pierce His overwhelming agony.

He had taught the disciples how to pray, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done," and now He was going to live and die as the ultimate example of His own teaching. By giving in to death He provided the solution for the biggest puzzle of all - the past, present & future of all of humanity!

On the cross with His arms stretched out in the ultimate commitment of a willingness to die to Himself for others, Jesus took His own hands off His fate and placed it completely into the hands of His Heavenly Father.

After He died and was buried, because He had left His fate in the hands of the Father, God resurrected Him from the dead in a completely new and improved role as the Savior of the world!

Taking our hands off of situations and trusting God makes no sense to the natural mind, I know. That's because it is a supernatural action.

Surrender does not seem like a viable option in this dog-eat-dog world,  but out of surrender can come strength.Releasing our worries, stresses, passions and dreams into God's hands releases the body and brain to focus energy into other tasks like building up the immune system, inspiring a creative mentality and reaching out to help others.

When we truly decide to (BE)TTER, we can cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us like no one else. Doing that makes us almost aloof to the trials and troubles of this world while our trust in our Highest Power keeps us satisfied on the path to Better Life.

To (BE)TTER:Today we will live inspired in Spirit, mind and body so we will leave a legacy of Better Life for tomorrow.
