Sitting in the airport terminal, waiting for my next flight, I watched a woman come running up to the empty gate next to mine yelling "Nooooo!" But she was too late. Her flight to Austin, Texas was gone. The jetway door had been closed and there were no airline personnel left at the counter. So the lady runs from the counter to the window and starts waving furiously at the plane, hoping someone will see her, stop the flight full of passengers, turn it around and come back just to pick her up.Finally, as a gate agent emerges from the jetway, the woman rushes up and begins to frantically plead her case that she absolutely must get on that plane! When the agent says the plane is already gone, the woman starts crying, jumping up and down and yelling "Nooooo" again. Then she gets the bright idea to run back to the window and start waving furiously again. It was all quite a spectacle to witness. She never did get on that plane.I don't know the reason why that woman was late, but I wonder if she had been just taking it slow, looking around and waiting until the last minute? That kind of thing happens to people all the time, in all kinds of situations. You've probably had it happen to you. You know that feeling, its like when we have a lot of time, we can lose track of time and suddenly, we're out of time!In 2 Corinthians 6:2, the Apostle Paul wrote about the importance of seizing the moment: "Indeed, the right time is now. Today is the day of salvation."There are certain things we procrastinate about and put off, thinking we have plenty of time. After all, it's never too late, until it's too late, right? Thing is, nobody really knows when it will actually be too late or how much time we have left. At times it seems like life is flying by, and at other times it feels like a snail could leave us in the dust.No matter what your current pace of life may be, there's no time like the present to make peace with God. That's the one thing you definitely don't want to wait around on, gambling on how much time you have left. Salvation is available right now, just for the asking. Admitting our mistakes to God, asking for forgiveness and letting Jesus take the wheel will put any life on the right road at just the right time. Why put off until tomorrow the opportunity to (BE)TTER today?
