Dear Loving Church Family and Friends,

John 3:16 is one of the most familiar verses of scripture in the Bible.  It sums up the true meaning of Christmas.  “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  The enclosed picture of the many ministers serving in our Church-Family displays what makes First Assembly such a great church.  Everyone reflects that same spirit of love demonstrated by God, our Father, when He gave His Son to the world.  Our sincere and heartfelt appreciation to all who have served so faithfully during the past year.

You grandmothers and grandpas can relate to our excitement as we eagerly await the arrival of our first granddaughter.  She is due to arrive on or before January 5th.  Our only grandson, Brandon turned 16 this year. He has always brought so much joy to our hearts and delights us with his sincere love for God and well-rounded, active life.  We are anxiously looking forward to having another priceless gem being added to our family tree when Steve and Shari’s sweet little princess arrives.  The nursery is almost ready and the lovely gifts she received from our dear Church Family and Friends are neatly arranged in the closet, ready to cuddle the little bundle of joy upon her birth.  Randal has suggested the name of “Randalita” for his new niece.  We’ll have to wait and see if Steve and Shari decide to name their first daughter after her uncle. (Ha!)This year has been our second year of nightly Prayer Meetings.  Years ago God spoke these words to our hearts: “The Church that Prays together Stays Together”. The tide is rising and we are sensing His Presence in our gathers stronger than ever before.  First of all, we minister to the Lord and tune our hearts to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.  These are continuing miracles as needs are brought before His Throne.

The enclosed family pictures were taken at various times during the past year.  Our pets didn’t make it into the pictures, but we continue to love our animals.  Tim and Kendal and Brandon have a Yorkshire Terrier named Pumpkin; Randal and Adeana have two cats, Polo and Prada; Steve and Shari have two Persian cats, Barney and Thelma Lou; and we still have two cats, Jeri & Jolly along with two English mastiff puppies, Cache and Rocky.

Everyone will be home for Christmas this year, except Dad Smolchuck, who will be spending Christmas in Oklahoma City with Joe and Carole (daughter and son-in-law).  We’re anticipating a wonderful time of fun and celebration.

You are in our thoughts during this Christmas season.  May you and your loved ones continually experience God’s blessings of great fruitfulness, abundance and overwhelming joy is our prayer as we enter the upcoming year.

Joyfully Celebrating the Birth of Our Lord,
Pastor Fred and Jetta Smolchuck
